President Obama Praises Hartmarx Jobs Campaign
"When [Hartmarx] fell on hard times, the big bank tried to pull their credit and destroy 600 jobs...," Obama said.
The Chicago Sun reports that President Obama praised the successful campaign to save jobs at Hartmarx during a fundraiser for Democrat Alexi Giannoulias, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Illinois. The campaign to save Hartmarx was spearheaded by Workers United. It included protests of the big banks and effective efforts to pressure Wells Fargo.
The Illinois plant continues to operate, employing some 600 people. And President Obabma wears Hartmarx suits. (Click here to read the story.)
